This maintenance kit installation is considered a medium to advanced-level repair.
We recommend that you be comfortable with taking things apart, and follow the directions closely.
HP LaserJet P2030, P2035, P2050, P2055 Canon imageCLASS Pickup roller and Separation Pad MTray 1
1. Press the print-cartridge door button, and then open the print-cartridge door.
2. Rotate the roller cover up and away from the roller assembly.
3. Release two tabs.
4. Rotate the pickup roller away from the product.
5. Remove the pickup roller.
6. Insert a flat head screwdriver under the old separation pad and pry up to remove it.
7. Install the new separation pad. Insert as shown in picture below, then use the flat head of your screwdriver to firmly press down and lock both sides of the separation pad.
HP LaserJet P2030, P2035, P2050, P2055 Canon imageCLASS Pickup roller assembly; Tray 2
1. Remove Tray 2 cassette .
2. Carefully tilt the printer so it rests on its back, front-side up.
NOTE: Debris can scratch or damage the back of the product. Before you place the product front side up, remove any debris from the work surface. If possible, set the product on a clean, dry cloth to prevent scratching and damage.
3. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to release one tab, and then rotate the locking collar toward the inside of the product.
4. Slide the collar away from the rollers.
5. Rotate the drive end of the roller assembly out and away from the product.
6. Remove the pickup roller.
NOTE: The two idler rollers (one on each end of the pickup roller shaft) are not captive; save the 2 idler rollers, you will need to re-use them with the new pickup roller.
HP LaserJet P2030, P2035, P2050, P2055 Canon imageCLASS Separation-pad assembly; Tray 2
1. Remove two screws
2. Remove the separation-pad assembly.
3. Install the new separation-pad assembly.
CAUTION: The power switch can be dislodged when the right cover is removed. Be careful when you remove the cover.
1. Press the print-cartridge door button, and then open the print-cartridge door.
2. Lift the rear door latch, and then open the rear door.
If the power switch gets dislodged, see the Tech Tip on page 10.
3. Before you proceed, note of the locations of the mounting tabs on the right cover.
4. Release three tabs.
5. Carefully slide the cover toward the front of the product, and then remove it.
Tech Tip *If the power switch is dislodged when the cover is removed, replace it as shown below. .
Reinstall the power switch Left cover
1. Press the print-cartridge door button, and then open the print-cartridge door.
2. Grasp the top front of the cover, and then gently separate the cover from the product.
3. Grasp the bottom front of the cover, and then gently separate the cover from the product.
4. Carefully slide the cover toward the front of the product, and then remove it.
HP LaserJet P2030, P2035, P2050, P2055 Canon imageCLASS Rear cover, rear door, and duplex-paper-feed assembly
1. HP LaserJet P2050 Series only: Pull down on the green duplex-paper-feed-assembly release tab,
located on the top inside of the Tray 2 cavity. Pull release tab and lower the assembly.
2. Remove five screws
3. Release one tab.
4. Carefully separate the rear cover and rear door from the product, and then remove them.
NOTE: For the HP LaserJet P2050 Series, the duplex-paper-feed assembly is removed with the cover and door
Reinstallation tip When you reinstall the rear cover assembly, open the rear door to make sure that the rear cover fits even against the product chassis before you install the mounting screws.
HP LaserJet P2050 Series only: Carefully release two hinge pins , and then separate
the rear cover and rear door from the duplex-paper-feed assembly.
Reverse-sensor assembly --
HP LaserJet P2050 Series only --
1. Disconnect one connector, release the wire harness from the guide, and then remove
one screw.
2. Remove the reverse-sensor assembly.
HP LaserJet P2030, P2035, P2050, P2055 Canon imageCLASS Fuser
CAUTION: The fuser might be hot. Allow enough time for the fuser to cool after the product power is turned off.
The toner cartridge-door should be in the closed position when the fuser is removed.
1. Disconnect six connectors, and then release the wire harnesses from the guide.
Remove one screw, and then slide the media-feed guide toward the formatter side of
the product to remove it.
5. Disconnect one connector.
6. Release three tabs, and then remove three gears.
3. Disconnect three connectors and one ground connector.
7. Remove three screws.
8. Carefully remove the fuser.
Reinstall the new fuser
1. The drive gears must be correctly aligned when the fuser is reinstalled or replaced. The gears are keyed and can only be installed when they are correctly aligned.
2. Make sure that the ground connector is correctly fastened and fully seated on the connector lug.
3. Continue re-installing the fuser and re-assembling the printer in reverse order of the previous steps.
