Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. The fuser might be hot if you have been using the printer. As a safety precaution wait 20 minutes for the fuser to cool before proceeding.

  1. Open the top cover. The 4700 4730 fuser assembly has two purple handles; hold those two handles as you pull and remove the fuser.

  2. Install the new 4700 4730 fuser in the same manner; make sure it is seated well, and then close the lid.

Remember to send your 4700 4730 fuser back to us if you purchased your maintenance kit on exchange. Ship it back in the carton we sent if you still have it.

HP Color LaserJet 4700 , 4730mfp manual feed separation pad, pickup roller installation instructions

Installing the manual feed separation pad and pickup roller.

  1. The roller and separation pad for the manual feed pickup are located inside the main paper tray.

  2. Open the 4700 4730 paper tray. At the front of the tray, you will find 2 small white plastic sliding locks. Push those locks inwards to release them.

  3. With the sliding locks released, you can now gently rotate and remove the front cover of the tray. Gently rotate it forward & down until it comes free. Behind this cover you will find the manual feed pickup roller & separation pad.

  4. To release & remove the manual feed roller, spread the tabs.

  5. Don't install the new pickup roller yet. It will be easier to see & replace the separation pad beneath it with the roller removed.

  6. Next, take a small flat head screwdriver and gently pry the side of the grey separation pad up and out to remove it.

  7. Install the new separation pad. As you install the new separation pad, be sure the grooves cut into the rear of the separation pad slide underneath the black tabs on the plastic pad assembly.

  8. Once the separation pad is in place, press down firmly on both ends of the pad to lock it down.

  9. Now you can install the new pickup roller. The round notch inserts first, at the bottom of the plastic assembly, and the square notch locks in place second, at the top of the assembly.

  10. Now you can reinstall the front cover for the paper tray and re-lock those white tabs.

Installing the cassette separation roller.

  1. Slide the paper tray out. As you try to remove the tray, it will "catch" ; once it stops, lift up on the tray, pull slightly forward and then lower the tray to free it from the "catch." Remove the tray completely from the printer.

  2. On the paper tray, open the black plastic hinged cover which "shields" access to the separation roller.

  3. Remove & replace the separation roller: pinch the roller's small blue tab, and slide the roller off the shaft to its left.

  4. Install the new separation roller; slide it onto the shaft, make sure it clicks into place by orienting it so that the roller lines up with the tabs on the black plastic device (torque delimiter) sitting on the shaft to the right.

Installing the cassette pickup and feed rollers.

  1. Inside the printer, at the top of the printer tray cavity, there are 2 more rollers, a white/grey pickup roller and a blue/grey feed roller. Release each roller by pinching the small retaining tab on the roller and sliding each roller free from the shaft.

  2. Slide the new rollers onto their shafts until they lock in place.

HP Color LaserJet 4700 , 4730mfp reset the fuser page count

For the HP Color LaserJet 4700 4730 printers , there is no menu option or manual reset for the fuser page count. However, our Metrofuser's remanufactured fusers, as well as new HP fusers, are able to automatically reset the fuser page count when installed.

Our fusers include a tiny "fusable link" that "burns itself out" during the 1st power-on.

Install a replacement fuser from us, then turn on your printer, and the power-on process will automatically reset the page count for you. To ensure this process works correctly, double-check that your printer's power is off before you install the new fuser.
