What it Means

The 55. WX.YZ: DC controller error to continue turn off then on. The 55 error are related to the printer's DC Controller communication and memory.


• 55.00.00 - DC controller internal communication error.

• 55.00.01 - DC controller memory error.

• 55.00.03 - DC controller no engine response.

• 55.00.04 - DC controller communications time out.

• 55.00.05 - Hardware memory error.

• 55.01.06 - NVRAM memory data error warning.

• 55.02.06 - NVRAM memory access error warning.


Course of action:

  1. Before replacing any printer parts verify all connectors on the HP Printer's DC Controller are properly seated and not damaged.

  2. Turn the HP printer off and re-seat the printer's Formatter and turn printer back on to see if error message clears.

  3. If the printer was trying to perform a FW upgrade when error occurred, resend FW upgrade.

  4. With 55 error displayed, press Engine Test switch.

  • If Engine Test page prints correctly, replace the HP Printer's Formatter

  • If Engine Test page does not print, replace the HP Printer's DC Controller
