Installing the M552 M544 M555 M577 M553 M578 E55040 fuser.
Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. The fuser might be hot if you have been using the printer. As a safety precaution wait 20 minutes for the fuser to cool before proceeding.
Open the right side cover.
The fuser assembly has two blue handles with squeezable release triggers; insert your fingers into the handles and squeeze and hold the triggers to release the fuser.
While squeezing the triggers, gently pull the fuser out towards you and remove it from the machine.
Install the new fuser in the reverse manner; make sure it is seated well, and then close the door. In the next step you will reset the fuser page count.
HP Color LaserJet M552 M577 M553 reset the fuser page count
For the HP Color LaserJet M553 series printers, there is an internal page count that should be reset whenever you replace the fuser. This will clear any messages about "Replace Fuser Kit" and will help you keep track of estimated fuser life, etc.
Press the Home screen, scroll to and touch the ADMINISTRATION button.
Select the MANAGE SUPPLIES menu.
Select the RESET SUPPLIES submenu.
Select the option for NEW FUSER KIT.
When it says NEW FUSER KIT = NO / YES, select YES.
Press OK to save that selection.
The fuser page count will then be reset.
