Cold Reset Procedure For HP 9000 9040 9050 M9040 M9050 Series


For HP 9000 9040 9050 M9040 M905 series MFP machines:


To perform a cold reset, set the display language, reset the maintenance kit, enable or disable embedded LAN

  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. Turn on the printer.

  3. Wait until the printer begins counting memory.

  4. Select and hold TICK (the 6 button on MFPs).

  5. Continue to hold TICK until all three control panel lights illuminate, and then release TICK (the 6 button on MFPs).

  6. Use DOWNARROW (the 9 button on MFPs) or UPARROW (the 3 button on MFPs) to scroll to the appropriate selection (COLD RESET, SELECT LANGUAGE, NEW MAINTENANCE KIT, or ENABLE/DISABLE EMBEDDED LAN).

  7. Select TICK (the 6 button on MFPs).

The printer boot sequence is complete when READY appears on the control-panel.

For HP 9000 9040 9050 series laser printer (Printer only):


1 Turn off the printer.

2 Turn on the printer.

3 Wait until the printer begins counting memory. 4 Press and hold Check (Or select) button (the 6 button on MFPs). 5 Continue to hold TICK until all three control panel lights illuminate, and then release TICK (the 6 button on MFPs). 6 Use DOWN ARROW (the 9 button on MFPs) or UP ARROW (the 3 button on MFPs) to scroll to the appropriate selection (COLD RESET, SELECT LANGUAGE, NEW MAINTENANCE KIT, or ENABLE/DISABLE EMBEDDED LAN).

7 Press TICK (the 6 button on MFPs).

The printer boot sequence is complete when READY appears on the control-panel.
